I look for hearts everywhere I go and they reveal themselves to me frequently. I see them in clouds, in shells, in scribbles, on leaves, in spilled paint on the street. My children know to look for them and always bring to me heart shaped treasures from nature. I love them in their perfectly symmetrical classic "be my valentine" state. But when they are a little off, a little different...thats when they call my name the loudest. When I saw this vintage heart, it stopped me in my tracks. It isn't your traditional heart in that it's immediately recognizable as such. Its flowing lines make it look more like a sculpture rather than a heart and its puffed out shape gives the feeling of endlessly floating. At it's coeur though, (pun intended) it is undeniably a heart. And the beauty of the heart is that it can take on so many shapes, have so many forms, be seen from so many angles and perspectives, go through so many phases, be shattered to bits and come back stronger and yet at the end of the day...it is still a heart, your heart. IT is the most beautiful and iconic symbol of love, of hope and more than anything, with it's miraculously consistent PULSE...a symbol of life.  

Heart themes, though they tend to lean solely on the romantic aspect, I think can and should be aligned with ALL the things that make our pulse quicken and our souls expand. Chasing a career, forging a new path, setting down roots, creating a new life or celebrating a big milestone are all ways to set your heart on fire and make your pulse beat faster. THIS feeling of urgency, of desire, of excitement, of hope is YOUR pulse, that rhythmic (sometimes fast and erratic, sometimes slow and calming) beat...it is LIFE. it means YOU ARE LIVING. So, find YOUR pulse and go after your dreams, hold on to it as you pray, and use it to remind yourself that you have one shot at this life, one chance each and every day to FIND.YOUR.PULSE.
